YouthSafe Committee Meeting
held on 29 March 1999 at 3.30pm
in the 10th Floor Conference Room, 377 Sussex Street, Sydney

Item 1
Streetwise Comics
- Committee members to call Streetwise Comics directly with their comments.
- Mary Yaager to send contact names to Streetwise Comics and prepare a letter thanking Streetwise Comics for the opportunity to comment on their materials.
Item 2
Draft Code of Practice for the Safety and Health of Children and Young People in Workplaces
- David Glass to collect comments from committee members. Phone: (02) 9394 9494 Fax: (02) 9261 1270. Final comments in by 13 April 1999.

Education Package
- Committee members were pleased with the kit.
- Casual teachers, not YouthSafe members, to present kit in schools during trial/pilot.
- Kit to be extended into TAFE?s and a focus group to be set up to test suitability for TAFE.
- FACT SHEETS - all committee members to provide comments direct to Bleedin? Heart Media. Phone: (02) 9544 3701 Liam Phelon.
- Mary Yaager to look after other items
- Kit to be launched in May with Premier
- To be discussed with Peter Lewis, Labor Council?s Media Officer, in regards to where and when and who to invite.
- Committee members to provide Q & A?s to put on the YouthSafe Website. To be provided by Mary Yaager.
- "Safety First or Expect the Worst" to be the slogan. "Stayin? Alive" is the title of the education kit.
Item 5
Summer Hill Films
- Committee members interested in concept.
- Arrange a meeting for the YouthSafe Committee to met with Summer Hill Films.
- Need to be discussed with WorkCover.
- Monica Lonergan, David Glass and Michael Gadiel to arrange meeting with Summer Hill Films and WorkCover to discuss the project.
- YouthSafe committee to liaise with Mary Yaager, Monica Lonergan or David Glass if they have any further comments.
Item 6
Future of the YouthSafe Committee and Next Meeting
- Circular to all affiliates for nominations for new YouthSafe committee members.
- Nominees, if accepted, will comprise the committee.
School students and young union members to be used in focus groups/ campaigns or to attend meetings as guests or observers.
- NEXT MEETING scheduled for: 3 May 1999 at 3.30pm at Labor Council. Items to be discussed at this meeting will include the launch of the kit.
