of the YouthSafe Committee Meeting
held on 8 June 1999 at 3.30pm

Item 1
- Correspondence Received Streetwise Comics "It?s Not Right" a Streetwise Comic. Members were happy with the outcome.
Item 2
- Draft Proposal - Summer Hill Films Mary Yaager outlined Summer Hill Films will work with Social Change Media in developing and interactive website that can be used in conjunction with the educational kit for schools.
- Ray Marcelo expressed animation or youth specific materials would be useful on the website.
- Mary Yaager outlined the type of research that Summer Hill Films has proposed to do, in order to produce a site that would cater for all youth health and safety needs. Mary suggested that part of this research should also included a survey of the most popular site that are hit by youths and how many times those particular sites are hit, so that we have an idea of the type of information, pictures, logos, etc, attract youths.
- Mary Yaager confirmed that the Summer Hill Films proposal was cleared by WorkCover.
- The issue of maintenance of the website was expressed.
- Matt Thislethwaite suggested that the website should provide information for OHS projects and schools encourage their students to search this information on our website.
- Mary also suggested that the information on the website be practical and not boring.
Item 3
- Q?s & A?s Committee members expressed that the idea of Q?s & A?s was to common and suggested that we look into putting a message/notice board or, if possible, a chat room on the website.
Item 4
- Up-date on Education Kit and Launch Committee members endorsed Bleedin? Heart Media?s Youthsafe materials be printed, foldaway cards, stickers, leaflet, keyrings and rulers.
- Melissa Metcalfe suggested that we distribute the materials in a showbag.
- Mary Yaager explained that it was beneficial for the speakers kit to become a teachers resource manual. The Teachers Federation will be involved in focus groups and are developing a new proposal for the teachers resource manual.
- The Teachers Federation will launch the resource kit with at the Teachers Federation Conference in July 2000 and all accompanying materials.
- It was strongly suggested that the materials be Launched "on-air" during the 2DayFM, Ugly Phil?s program. Having the Launch at Parramatta Westfield?s Shopping Centre and having Ugly Phil?s show cross over to the Launch. Suggestions of having a band, soapie or sports star their as well.
- Jeff Shaw will be invited to launch the products.
