Interview An Employee

Your Mission:

  • Find a paid employee of any age (it may be a member of your family or a friend) who is willing to be interviewed about Occupational Health and Safety at their workplace.
  • Ask the questions and write their answers in the space provided.
  • Remember the information is personal, so do not reveal the name of the person interviewed or the workplace.
  • You can use a separate sheet of paper if necessary.

  • Photocopy of take home task for each student.
  • Graph paper for groups (or access to graph making computer software).

  • Hand out interview sheets and explain task.
  • Look at interview sheet, ask questions and think of person to interview.

    2. Interview worker outside school
    (Give students several days. Interview should only take 10 minutes)
  • Follow up to see that interviews are done.
  • Select and carry out interview recording the results on sheet provided.

    3. Second Lesson
    (Compile and describe results in groups then discuss as whole class)
  • Organise three groups for small, medium and large business.
  • Supervise and assist groups with difficulties.
  • Collect graphs to photocopy for class.
  • Groups compile primary data and create three graphs one for small, medium and large business.
  • In a paragraph groups should describe the results.
  • Discuss what these results are telling them.
